A Short Autumn Walk –
Autumn in my part of Australia is an obscure affair;
…there is little of the rich and vibrant color change
that one would expect of the season…
Evergreen trees flourish with a thick abundance of verdant leaves….
…from my seat in the park I see a lush patchwork
of luxuriant green
and a few Autumn blooming flowers…
the true nature of Autumn here
is more a subtle change in the air….
…. the harsh humidity of Summer vanishes
and while the days generally remain bright and clear and somewhat warm still
the air itself is soft and gentle;
…only mornings & nights are brisk with a sharp chill;
the breeze changes too… becoming
more playful and mischievous-
- the sort of breeze that gusts along with a giggle
sending hats flying and billowing up the ladies dresses with a sly chuckle…
…after walking for nearly 2 hours, with a little rest in the quiet park
I finally spotted something that looked decidedly Autumn….
… a small bushy tree with yellowing leaves;
