Day 3 - Wednesday Walk-Poetry & Photography by sharonlee

Day 3 - Wednesday Walk-Poetry & Photography by sharonlee
Photobucket
Raindrops & Mountain Mist
raindrops & mountain mist
the air is wet & clean
suddenly my world is dressed
in a thousand shades of green…
Photobucket
droplets drip from drenched trees
a playful wind tugs at my hair
hurrying people pass me
they do not pause to share
in Mother Nature’s rain-hued beauty
… they do not even notice it’s there…
Photobucket
I lose myself in mountain mist
I gaze with inner longing-
up there on the wooded slopes
is where my spirit belongs…
Photobucket
for I am mountain maid
my soul comes from a mountain land-
-how I know this, I do not understand
but I know that is where I belong
at peace with the mountain’s song…
Photobucket
raindrops & ripples reflect rainbow tones
as I follow the beach… my footsteps head home
to a simply furnished dwelling
where I live alone…
Photobucket
… to daydream of mountains & raindrops & gossamer mist
and the melody of the waves that whisper & hiss….

NightWalker

NightWalker

born of the first stars that lit an ancient night
her spirit chaffs at societies plight...

she has been a wanderer… over fields and valleys she would go
she visited silence and stillness, such as she’d never known
alone she witnessed sunrises that told the only time
and beheld the eternal passage of season’s patient rhyme….

Photobucket
she walked a long lonely highway where no streetlights lit the way
waking alone each morning, glad to greet the day
she navigated a path from stars that were her steadfast guide
one full-moon night she danced with trees, her joy she couldn’t hide…

Photobucket
she dwelt in forest-shadows and felt her soul complete
dry leaves crunching softly beneath her bare feet
she sat a tree and gazed in awe at the night-scene spreading to yonder moon
knowing this was true freedom, not knowing it would end soon…
Photobucket

city shadows swallowed her… the air was thick with haze
night noises were foreign here … lost were her days
moon light seemed remote in the glare of neon light
trapped by walls was she … her feet knew only flight…

Photobucket
shushing waves hushed at her… as the first stars lit the sky
a gentle breeze brushed her hair with playful carefree sighs
an empty beach … a silent night… restores her energy
nightwalker wanders… this night she is free..

Photobucket
born of the first stars that lit an ancient night
vision-walker walks beneath new moon light
her free spirit chaffs at societies abject lethargy
as she spreads the healing power of peace & energy;

It’s Ok

It’s Ok

we all start out small
and that’s ok
life is kinda long… it takes a bit of learning
to get it right…

part of that learning
comes from  the freedom to be a child
 while we still  are children…

to believe, without doubt
that we can climb to all heights…

sometimes we just have to do things
to see if we can do them…

even if the task at hand is too big
we won’t know unless we try
we may fail
but at least we tried…

some things in life may shock us
and that’s ok
its healthy to understand
all aspects of this world…

some days will be grumpy days…
just because they are

there will be days
we hide behind a  mask
to cover our true feelings

and some days
will be a real pain
but that’s ok
those days all help us appreciate the good….

it’s a big world out there
too big to comprehend sometimes
it’s ok to feel a little daunted by it all…

the day will come
when everything falls into place
and you’ll think to yourself
oh wow
I get it now…

but before we can reach that point
we need to discover
who we are…

and spend some time
walking life’s pathways
alone….
so we learn to understand
our self first

and then with friends…

its ok to just hang around
by yourself for a while
or invite someone to swing by…

there will be times
when we just have to
get our point across…

and times when silence
is welcomed…

it’s a good practise
to enjoy moments of sunshine…

as well as those times
rain falls beyond the window…

our path may take us to places
not to our liking
but its important
to experience
these places…
important to broaden
our horizons….

as tranquil as our own window might be
there really is a lot to see…
the diversity of this earth
should be experienced….

now, life can get stressful
so its ok to feel the pressure
that often fills each day….

and say to hell with it all
I’ve had enough for one day….
and order pizza….

wild & crazy adventures
make great memories
even if its only
a day tip…

and it’s probably wise to expect
 breakdowns and delays
detours and obstacles….

but have the courage
to carry on with the adventure
or adapt the journey
to fit in with the  complications….

in a world that is very often
chaotic
its helps to seize the moment
or steal  a kiss….

its ok to remember happy times
and smile fondly at the memory
reliving… for just a moment
the joy of that day….

and its ok to be sad too
with the memory
of loved ones
who have passed away…

sometimes memories
take over all thought
and that’s ok too
for a little while..
but don’t get lost…

because there is too much
to live for in the now
so much love
& so many reasons to celebrate….

new life fills the spaces
left by the departed
continuing the thread
of existence….

and new reasons to laugh
are born
when we put past pain
in the past…

its ok to take yourself
for a walk along the beach
a dog is good company
but if you don’t have one
just go anyway…

and its ok to write
a greeting in the sand…
who knows… the next person
to walk along
may really need a friendly sign….

as we age
our awareness
seems to change
we see things in a new light…

it’s a just a matter of concept
clarity
and perception…
we learn that simplicity
is our strength …

friends come in all varieties
each with a different smile
but all show the same emotion…

its cool to hang at the beach and chat
no shopping complexes
or 30 minute lunch breaks
no chores…. just friends together…

and its ok to act like a  fool
with children
too soon they will lose
that spontaneous
inhibition…

have you noticed
how reflections
really do
reflect the real world?

sometimes
the writing on the wall
can be confusing
its ok to ask for help….

not all signs in life
are easy to understand
and some make absolutely no sense at all….

when all is said & done
each of us will have many different experiences
but there will also be many we share….
life is not often easy my friends
I just wanted you to know…. I care….

Tuesday Walk

Tuesday Walk
Before the morning heats the day
I wander along a familiar path
bordered by sleepy flowers
and gently nodding grass…
Photobucket
a family of wild pigeons
scurry across my path
to settle in the shade
as I pass…
the youngest one watches me
with what looks like curiosity
so I slow my pace so he
 can remember my face…
Photobucket
around the gentle curve of the bay
I make for ‘my’ flat rock
where small birds play
swooping over the placid water
then back to an overhanging tree
they perform graceful acrobatics
for whoever may pause to see…

Sun-Dappled-DayDreams

my tranquil haven in a chaotic world-
- a little sanctuary beneath over-grown trees…

a place to slow my breathing … to let man-made noise fade away
sharing time with insects … birds dancing through the day…

breathing deep of earthy scents
I feel tension leave my body
as I sit amongst the leaves
replaced with a calming energy…

… and I give thanks to Mother Nature
for sharing her healing touch with me;

Mondsy Walk - Morning Moments – A Photoblog

Morning Moments – A Photoblog

The morning was soft and muted… yawning sleepily into a new week
- crossing the highway to the park that wandered around the bay
was easy this time of day-
I was greeted by a familiar view and my favorite fig tree
that stood as guardian over park & bay…
… it was easy to ignore the highway once I was under
the soothing vibrations of the trees…
Photobucket
The ocean smelt briny-fresh as it murmured up the small strip of sand
that almost reached the manicured grass;
I noticed that ‘construction’ of the new section of eco-garden had been completed
and let my feet wander that way… taking in the water feature and newly planted treelings…
… as I meandered along the winding paths I wished they had of kept more native trees
in place of yet more manicured grass;

I walked to the creek, happy to see that the sporadic rain had dressed
the dry pebbly bed in clear ankle deep water…
… I followed a familiar way- off the cement path that sliced through the well-kept lawns
and into the wilder part of the park…
Photobucket
here the creek was bordered by a tangle of natural foliage
where morning shadows laced on uneven ground….
I sat here for a while
content to exist within the moment.
